Supercomputing 2005 Conference

Nov. 17, 2005: ACM/IEEE Supercomputing 2005 recognized our research demonstration "Wide Screen Window on the World: Life Size HD Videoconferencing" with the "Most Innovative Use of New Technology " award:

McGill used high bandwidth to reduce latency on their high definition video conferencing between Seattle and Montreal, so that two way synchronized interaction of musicians was truly possible.

Open Orchestra - The Immersive Experience of Playing in an Orchestra

This project created a platform that uses high definition panoramic video and surround sound to provide individual musicians with the very realistic experience of playing in an orchestra. The expected result was an exciting new method of training musicians and allowing them to expand their repertoire.
